Barefeet walk and swim in nature

I have walked on bare feet before but never for such a long time and with as much consciousness as today. It was a little out of my comfort zone, but that’s totally cool with me.

Today, I decided to go for a silence barefoot walk located in Den Haag. We had to meet at the parking place close to the beach, woods, and dunes. It turned out that there were only a few of us: me, Marcus, and the organizer Stephanie, who I’ve known for a few years. After hugging each other and going over the instructions for the day, we were good to go.

To give you an idea of the weather, it was a perfect day and hotter than we’re used to in the Netherlands.

The first part of the barefoot walk was in silence. The idea was to slow down, look around, and pay more attention to the world around us – the plants and little creatures living in the forest. The first thing I noticed was a big snail hiding on a pillar in the shade. It seemed to tell me not to rush and to be present in the moment. I also noticed that I was initially worried about whether my car was properly locked. However, after seeing the snail, I gained more confidence and decided to trust that it was secure.

The second thing I noticed was two butterflies flying around each other. It felt magical to watch. For me, it was a sign of trust in the process of transformation that I am currently going through in my life. I love seeing these signs in the form of animals; they always carry a message for me.

After walking for a bit, Marcus started eating a little berry that was orange-yellow in color. It was a bush with little spikes, called Sea Buckthorn. I decided to try it myself. I took a berry and squeezed out the juice. It tasted sweet at first and then sour afterwards. I kind of liked it. I’m always interested in edible fruits from nature that so many people pass by without noticing.

After walking for a few kilometers in silence, I also noticed that people wanted to greet us. I couldn’t really talk back, but I looked at them and made a small gesture to let them know that I noticed them. It was a little weird because I’m used to greeting back, but I couldn’t. After some time, we got closer to the sea and agreed that we could start speaking again. I was so excited to swim in the sea, but I hadn’t considered the fact that we could go swimming naked in a special section of the beach.

I had never done this in public before, so it was a little scary at first. However, once I did it, it felt really good and liberating. It was definitely outside of my comfort zone, but I did it anyway. Next time, I will do it again. It was a perfect day with temperatures around 30 degrees.

Afterwards, we went to a beach tent to have some Thea and coffee and sat there for a few hours, talking about life. I had met Stephanie before, but it has been a very long time ago. It was amazing to feel such a good vibe and share such beautiful things with three strangers. After today, we are no longer strangers.

Much love,
