Roadtrip Belgium IntimateDancing 2/2

Oke part 2 of my adventure here in Belgium

I really love to see Joke and Peter again i meet theme this summer at a Festival Hieros Gamos . I came here for the workshop on Intimate Dancing given by Joke and Piero, which was a whole new experience for me. Dancing was something that I never really felt comfortable doing because I always thought I could not dance. However, I tried to lose that thought and just do it anyway, and I ended up enjoying it.

When I arrived at Planet M in Gent, we were given little stickers that showed whether we were okay with touching or not. I had no problem with touching, so I got the sticker. The group slowly formed and we chatted a bit, which helped me connect and dance more easily. It was a hot day, and dancing made us sweat, but luckily I was wearing a tank top, so it was alright. The room had a great temperature, but when we started dancing, it got hot regardless.

First, we did some exercises to feel present and fully attentive to ourselves and our surroundings. We danced on our own with a mix of music to find each other and match our energy with the group’s rhythm. We also practiced looking at the group to synchronize our dancing. At some point, we created two rows and one row had to invite the other row to come closer using body language and eye contact. We had to respect the boundaries of others and make sure they felt comfortable letting us come closer. Then, we switched partners and roles.

The music used was a great combination of different styles, which worked for me. Some tracks appealed to me more than others, but that’s usual, I guess. Later on, we had to form couples in two rows, and I was blind folded while my partner led me. I had to trust her to guide me and not move myself. It was pretty challenging, but it worked out well for us.

Next, we had a “love shower” where we walked through as a couple, hand in hand, and allowed ourselves to be touched by the group. Each person had their own way of touching the couples walking through until everyone had gone through the “shower”.

After that, we danced as trio couples, copying the same styles from our own group. Once we got the hang of it, we had to meet another trio couple and dance as a group of six, maintaining our trio energy while performing two different styles. It was harder than we thought because when we looked at the other trio group, we automatically started copying their dance moves. However, the goal was to maintain our own energy as a group of three.

At the begin we make a circle and speak our mind how we standing at the begin. Of the workshop  and at the end as well  at the begin I  was excited and anxious and at the and my word was surprised  because I was really surprised how participated and motivated i joined the workshop knowing that  dance something I do often dance really grown on me in time

For me it was a magical experience i really  enjoyed and I really want to do something like this more often and connect with people  the difference from the group at the begin and the end was magnificent everybody  was really engaged  with the workshop  before i know the time was flying away  and the end of the workshop was there

I walked on my own to my car in the rain  but it was refreshing as well  so I don’t mind getting wet from the rain

Stil in the evening Gent feels like a safe place  to be when you’re walking on the street once I found my car  I drive 10 min  to the camper of peter  who was so kind to let spend the night  at the camper so I meet Joke and Peter near the camper and give me instructions and we talk a little more  and not much longer i was sleeping and try to get some rest  but there people coming and leaving on the place where the camper was parked so i rest a few hours and make sure  that i can drive the next day 180 km back to home

So when i was ready to go 7 o clock in the morning  i drive to the house of Joke to drop of the keys of the  camper and i was ready to drive home  so this adventure was for me amazing  and looking forward to makes some more magical  moment like this

Much love,
